Whats on in May and June 2024, at Blaithwaite Estate

“How is it May already?” Is a question that we are hearing a lot and “Can someone please tell the weather!”  With two bank holidays and then some time off school for half term approaching, we could certainly do with some sunshine!  Especially if you are planning on joining us in the great outdoors.

Walk the Estate

If a nice wander in the woods is your cup of tea, then our nature passport is available from the office to assist you on your journey around the Estate.  Just £2 to cover the cost of printing.  Please note our Quarry woodland on the edge of the estate remains closed due to dangerous over hanging trees caused by storm damage.  there are a few old trees been lost this year and the ground is still too wet to recover them and tidy up, so please bear with us.

For the campers - Electricity use

As a very rural property we have a certain amount of electricity supplied to our estate. When camping with an EHU (electric hook up) you receive a 6amp or 10amp pitch. This is enough to charge phones, have lights and a minimal amount of appliances; you are camping after all! It is not enough to plug fridges, kettles, heaters etc. all in at once and expect it to not trip off. This is a safety feature to ensure we are not over loaded as  a park/estate and so you are not in danger. We are sure at home you do not try to run all your electric appliances off one socket in your kitchen!
If you have  a hardstanding grass caravan or motorhome pitch this will be 16amps and enough for your unit, this also relies on having an internal trips/RCDs to regulate against faults and overload within your caravan/motorhome. We appreciate your understanding on the above, thank you. All our properties have standard electricity supplies, so when in our cottages etc, it is just like home from home.

Handy Hints to help:

  • Please use heaters to a minimum – tents do not store heat well you are heating the wider atmosphere. Hot water bottles are great for heating our bodies!
  • Please only use one high energy appliances at once.
  • Please try & use gas camping stoves/real fire/BBQs for cooking & boiling
  • Please check how much electricity each of your appliances uses prior to your stay so  you can understand what to put on & when.
  • Switch off anything unnecessary
  • Use our camping fridges & freezers & camp kettle (located on George’s field in our wee shed) or use a cool box!
  • Keep an eye on the weather and pack accordingly.

Camping Info

While we all hope for good weather, sometimes it just doesn’t go our way!  Please can we all try to adhere to the camping rules and regs sent in your booking email and also a polite reminder not to drive or park on the grass!  Anywhere on the Estate.  The ground is wetter than ever and you may get stuck – we will charge for and damage incurred to the property due to your disregard of the above.
A few simple instructions for the benefit of all: (further info in the check in email available)
– All tents are one per pitch booked.
– All units must be ether 3 meters (tents) or 6 meters (caravans & motor homes) apart for fire regulations.
– Bring your own towels to the toilets and showers , no money tokens required
– Do not leave us your large items for rubbish.  We do not want your broken table, tent or BBQ thank you!
– The toilets and showers are cleaned & restocked every morning.  Please take care of these and don’t make a mess!  You are as responsible as the next guest for the state of these.  Please be respectful, if we run out of loo roll, before the next morning just let us know and we will happily refill.
