The Estate

More than a country house

250 acres, 250 years, six generations.

Come and explore our 250 acres to get back in touch with nature, enjoy our history and have your very own adventure.

A Family Affair

250 acres, 250 years and six generations, our family is at the heart of the Estate. Now run by Kate and Malcolm Donald, despite all the generations gone by, we still hold true to the principles of our grandparents.

We have worked hard over the last few years to create a place for guests to rewild, return and restore the soul, making the most of the landscape that surrounds us and the properties in our grounds. What once housed cattle and horses, now there’s cosy accommodation whilst still retaining rustic character.

Standing majestically in the centre of the Estate, the original Mansion House has been lovely restored through the generations to offer accommodation for up to 40 people, keeping many of its original features and charm.

Every part of the Estate is repurposed to create a sustainable environment that protects a range of flora, fauna and wildlife. We have a biomass boiler that now heats the Estate with the wood and also use manure and mulch made from matter collected from around the estate in our gardens.

Ecological Importance

You will find a wealth of flora and fauna surrounding our estate.

Creating a balanced and healthy ecosystem is at the heart of everything we do. From the chippings that are turned into mulch, to the manure from our horses that go on to the roses.

Within the estate, you will find a historical arboretum, planted by our ancestors to create a wonderful home for all sorts of creatures, an apple orchard filled with unique trees and unique trees that were cultivated by Malcolm’s botanist Great Uncle – John Parkin himself.

Explore & Rewild!

Whether you come and visit us for the day or come to stay with us for a few nights, we want you to explore and enjoy the great outdoors! Think of us as your giant adventure playground (yes grown-ups, you too). Take to the Estate trails around our gardens and woodlands, feed the animals we have on-site, have a go at crazy golf and giant chess in our Orchard Garden, enjoy our dedicated play areas and run free in our wide-open spaces. We also have a number of events run throughout the year to enjoy including guided nature walks, bushcraft, seasonal activities and more.

There is something here for everyone, so come, join us, explore and rewild!
