Retreats are new and special events at Blaithwaite House. An opportunity for those who just need to get away for a few days to relax, re-charge & re-focus. The days are free to do whatever you like: enjoy the solitude of the Lake District Northern Fells; visit Hadrian’s Wall & the Solway Coast; or just soak up the peaceful atmosphere around the Main House and gardens. All meals are provided; and places will be limited on a first come first serve basis. There will be short, optional, devotions each day.

*we are seeking to provide an opportunity that is open to all and as such have set no fixed price for this retreat, guests are asked to contribute, as a donation, what they can and will. We appreciate that some will welcome a suggestion as to what to contribute and we would regard £35 per guest per night as a guideline. However, we suggest this for guidance only and would be concerned if guests felt they could not come for this reason. However a fee of £10 per booking will apply to secure your place.

Rob & Margaret Bianchi are ordained Anglican priests who have been running residential activities for all ages for over 30 years.
  
The walking and activity weeks will be based at Blaithwaite House near Wigton in the Northern Lakeland fells, a site with wonderful grounds and good access to the Lake District and Solway coast. Both holidays run from Monday midday to Friday midday. The cost is £175 which is inclusive of all accommodation and meals.
(We hope to be able to give a single room to all those who request it but it might be helpful if you were willing to share also we do need to use participants cars for getting around.)
 
Everything about the week is voluntary - a number of people come on the walking weeks who never put their boots on!  Each evening there will be a short time of reflection on an aspect of the Christian life, led by Rob & Margaret.

Men's Activity Week (Over 50's) - grade beginner / moderate
24 – 28 September 2012

Activities will include a days walk, kiting, archery, survival skills, open canoeing, raft building and team building activities. No previous experience is necessary the emphasis will be on having good fun with a group of like minded guys and in the evening exploring some issues that relate to men’s role in the world and how faith connects.

Over 50's Walking Week - grade moderate
22– 26 October 2012

Local walks on the Monday and Friday. Three days in the fells Tuesday – Thursday tackling a number of the Lakeland summits. This would be suitable for someone who walks regularly and is comfortable with doing about 2500ft of ascent in a day. At the end of the day time for reflection and teaching on relevant Christian topics.

Activity Weekend 2013
1 – 3 March 2013 (Friday evening to Sunday afternoon) £95 per person

Our annual activity weekend is an extremely popular event at Blaithwaite House. Aimed at those wishing to “push on” beyond novice standard. Challenging activities such as: canyoning; kayaking; mountaineering; caving & mountain biking can be enjoyed. Full board in the Main House, please book early!
